Welcome to this months Hospitality Interiors magazine

With daily talk of a depressed economy and the after-effects of another non-existent UK summer, it seems we don’t have much to look forward to these days.

If there’s one thing we’re constantly reminded about in the design sector though, it’s the wealth of design talent that continues to come out of the UK. Whatever doom and gloom exists elsewhere, it’s good to see UK designers working for furniture manufacturers overseas, with London still being regarded by many as the creative epicentre. The London Design Festival once again celebrated this fully in September, showcasing the best and newest products and accessories, with a myriad of events and open showrooms taking place all over London, adding to the buzz and atmosphere.

100% Design and its associated events, including 100% Detail, yet again provided another great platform for designers, manufacturers and buyers, whilst Tent London put forward an eclectic array of exhibitors in its Brick Lane setting. Meanwhile in Chelsea, Decorex and Focus showcased some of the finest high-end furniture and accessories we’ve come to expect from the two events since their inception. This issue takes an in-depth look at these events individually, highlighting what was on show.

Our interview this month is with Sebastian Conran, who talks us through his prolific and varied career as a product designer. We take a look at the Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel in Prague, as well as the latest London venues that have recently opened.

We are always keen to hear your feedback on our publication, and welcome your views. Also, if you are an owner/operator, architect or designer and would like to have your venue, projects or practice featured in HI, we’d love to hear from you.
